Success is like women: when you get it, is just normality, and in most cases normality gets boring and sometimes a burden.

This movie shows the dilemma we confront everyday: how to reach happiness, what is happiness.
Happiness is what we do not have.
Stone wanted success so badly he was even willing to give his soul for it.
But, once reached fame and fortune, he realizes they do not bring happiness and wants back his soul.
“He was cheated” Hopkins says, “into believing that richness and fame would bring him happiness” “the contract has no value”.
“There is no shortcut to happiness”.

“Change in expectations is a generational thing, experts say. People who grew up during the Depression were happy to have a job and stuck with one for a lifetime. Many members of generations X and Y were raised in a different light. They expect a buffet of opportunities and are peeved when they don’t materialize.”

But if they do it is even worse.
They are not what expected.
There are two tragedies in life: one is not being able to get what we want and the second, even greater is getting it…( I do not remember the exact words of Oscar Wilde)

The contract is declared invalid, for the happy ending’s sake.

In reality there is a shortcut to happiness, the fault is NOT SEEING IT.

There is no goal which is not worth dreaming for

We want what we want and we want it now. No delay. No aggravation. No hassle, pain-free, our way, right away. We’re a highly technical society in a land of plenty. We place a premium on efficiency and convenience. Tiny annoyances and inconveniences foul our moods and affect our behaviors. Why? And how can we get past these trivialities?

Consider this paradox: Things are becoming more instantaneous in an era when delays are rampant and increasing. There are faster flights and cars but more people in airplanes and on the roads.

What has happened, even though companies are improving service, is that “customer expectations are continuing to rise,” says Roger Nunley, managing director of the Customer Care Institute in Atlanta. This can be attributed to “consumers doing business online, where they get instant gratification and quick turnarounds. That’s quickly becoming the standard expectation.”
The ascent of narcissism and entitlement is dramatic.

“What we really have is a culture that has increasingly emphasized feeling good about yourself and favoring the individual over the group,”

Feeling entitled to something you aren’t getting leads to frustration, which leads to bratty behavior and confrontation.
“We have enough big things to be upset about, and people are losing their minds over small things,” she says. “Frustration leads to aggression. If you don’t let yourself get frustrated in the first place, then you don’t get so angry and you don’t blow things out of proportion.”

Stress also fuels bratty behavior. It makes us impatient and irritable from the get-go.

Change in expectations is a generational thing, experts say. People who grew up during the Depression were happy to have a job and stuck with one for a lifetime. Many members of generations X and Y were raised in a different light. They expect a buffet of opportunities and are peeved when they don’t materialize.

Clinical experiments show that people who express gratitude in some form every day live more-content lives, and they record lower levels of narcissism and entitlement.

Do you want empty highways, no lines, a promotion and limousine conveyance to your birthday party? Fine. But don’t expect them. Focus on your reliable car, your good health, your job stability or the fact that you’re in a position to celebrate a birthday at all.

Washington Post

Happiness is out there, you just have to ba able to grab it.
Considering what you have, wanting more, but working for it.
Happiness is not IN the GOAL, it is dreaming and working for it.
It is good to give people goals and expectations, it is even better to teach them how to fulfill their expectations and reach their goals.
But the best is teach people “TO LIVE”

Buy-to-let market

When most lose money is the time smart people make a lot of money.
Was ever in the last years a better time to buy a house and making a mortgage?
Inflation goes up, while the interest rates go down.
Which is quite unusual.
The normal scenario is interest rate on money going up with high inflation.
What will that bring?
A lower value on money, that means you will need more to live and of course MORE TO BUILD.
Which means houses’ price WILL go up in the near future.
So, why not buying a house and making a mortgage?
You risk that you will own something worth much more than what you will have to pay.
And how to pay the mortgage?
They say the Buy-to-let market is going strong.
It increased by 23 per cent last year to 1,038,000 and represented 10.3 per cent of all mortgages, according to the CML figures.
This kind of investment now accounts for one out of every five mortgages which are taken out in order to buy a new property.
The only thing you have to consider if following my advice, in making Mortgages to buy a house to let, is the location of it.
Do you intend to rent it permanently or, if you have some spare time, as a weekly vacation house?
Depending on the use you want to do of it, there are better locations and better kind of houses.
Just remember, not ALL houses ARE the same, even when they look the same…

The “smart” garden of the near future

A concept auto navigation garden watering system for 2015, the concept was introduced by a designer named Yopi Djauhar - currently studying in Product Design degree course in Limkokwing university, Malaysia.

By 2015, we might see Beyflo navigating on its own through your garden. It can refill water and recharge on its own. The power is located on top, make it easier for users to turn it on/off. Plants location is not a problem for Beyflo, because it can reach further by increasing its water pump pressure.

To avoid obstacles it comes with higher ground clearance and to avoid obstacles when moving through rough terrain it is cleverly equipped with object sensors. The wheel is made up from solid PU for good traction. PCB is the central processing unit that control motor, pump and power portion to each component.

Will we be able to use Carbon without CO2?

Georgia Tech scientists have developed a new material that, combined with the right process, could become the cheapest way to separate the greenhouse gas, carbon dioxide, out of coal plants’ smokestacks.

“It’s pretty easy and cheap to make and it’s got a high capacity for CO2 under realistic conditions,” said Chris Jones, a chemical engineer at Georgia Tech.

Those conditions require a material that can trap CO2 out of a mixture of water vapor, nitrogen, and oxygen (among other things), and then release that carbon dioxide on-demand. Being able to do that cheaply remains a dream, and one that some say will always remain “vaporware.”

But scientists are pushing on with the effort to develop the right systems to make coal plants outfitted with carbon capture and sequestration cost-competitive with other future power solutions like solar concentrating plants.

88 minutes

In 88 Minutes, Al Pacino stars as Dr. Jack Gramm, a college professor who moonlights as a forensic psychiatrist for the FBI.
It would take 88 minutes to Al Pacino to die, it takes just 5 minutes to understand he won’t.
In the best TV movies style, the plot is more or less the same.
On one side the bad who desperately tries to involve the good (who usually lost a wife or a sister in a dramatic way) and almost succeeds to frame him with the aid of a psychological weak partner.
The guilty is known since the beginning, the accomplice usually is the person you would and could least suspect.
Well, it ends, of course, with the bad’s death and the good’s rehabilitation.
If Al Pacino was not the main character, it would be a good episode of a discreet TV series.

It got difficult to find good movies lately.
The problem is that the number of good stories and good actors is almost the same, while the number of movies has dramatically increased.
It gives the (true) impression the most of the latest films are rubbish.
Good is rare, if it was common it wouldn’t be good, it would just be normal.
We are always at the same: The Good, The Bad, and The Successful.

Frequently mistaken for a vocoder and more commonly known as “That Fucking Weird Computer Voice Thing,” Auto-Tune is actually a brilliant piece of software. All you have to do is tell it which notes you’re trying to hit while you’re singing. When you fuck up, Auto-Tune makes the necessary adjustments so that you can pretend to be a good singer and a weird sounding robot at the same time. Obviously this has made it invaluable in the world of music.

Singers used to spend days trying to get their songs recorded perfectly, and studios charge by the hour. Some would record late at night when their vocal chords were more relaxed. Some (Rod Stewart) even gargled crew-members’ love gravy to get that smooth, even tone (allegedly, but the kid who told us about it in high school also had the best weed, so it has to be true, right?). Auto-Tune has made it possible for performers to lower their recording budgets, get some rest, and sidestep such unfortunate homeopathic remedies.

Spring Again…

Once I lived in a place named Florida.
Summer all year long.
Sun and beaches.
Then last month I met somebody from Florida.
“I am going to move to Denver”, “Why?” I asked kind of bewildered, “Because I am fed up with this hot weather”.
I couldn’t believe my ears, but then I began thinking.
What would my life be without Spring?
Nobody can understand how beautiful Spring can be, unless he had a Winter.
And a Winter as we have in Italy, with a lot of rain, fog and very low temperatures.
Spring is like been reborn every year.
Spring is looking at your garden and seeing the small green leaves growing on your trees, the first tulips and daffodils and hyacinths.
When you are lucky enough to have a garden Spring is the most beautiful show you can have in your life.
And late February, early March are the best time to begin working and planning and planting.
Last year I made a big order at Direct Gardening taking advantage of several coupons I got from Coupon Chief.
The secret to have a nice garden and beautiful flowers and plants is to buy them in the right place, where they have healthy plants and a good selection.
They even help you to organize your garden with precious suggestions.
If you have to organize your work and need good quality accessories you can find them at Landscape. USA.
You can also get good coupons from the same source and buy what you need at good prices.
Well, what can I say more: Welcome Spring!

What about happiness?

If asked to define what happiness is I used to answer:
Happiness is finally getting rid of a hurting pair of shoes…

But I collected a few definitions I like:

Success is getting what you want, happiness is wanting
what you get… (James L)

Happiness is not about what happens to you; it’s about your
attitude to what happens to you.

I am always happy. If I am alone, walking down a
street in Rome , I am happy. I feel loved. In fact. I
feel so happy sometimes that it is overwhelming and
almost makes me dizzy

‘Happiness is wanting what you have in your life,
right now…’ (Deepam)

Happiness is an inside job

And I would add:
Happiness is what we do not have.
If we have it, it’s just normality…
